Ricardo Fernandez, a trained architect, hails from Cuba and is known internationally for his contribution to Lighting Design. He started his career in lighting as a designer of decorative lighting fixtures for Meyers Design Associates in 1990. From there, Ricardo went on to become senior Lighting and project manager for Isometrix Lighting + Design and ArcLight Design. He has experience leading world renown lighting projects for residential, commercial and hospitality designs. As principle of his eponymous lighting firm, he works with designers such as Valerie Pasquiou, Meg Sharpe, Icrave, and FFD. He has also worked for clients such as Ian Schrager, Peter Brandt Foundation, and a close collaboration with Tourmaline.
Ricardo’s tenure as lighting design and styling director for Bar Studio in Melbourne Australia from 2017-2022 shows his talent in collaborating with interior designers in creating exceptional lighting ambiances, given his flair for design and his eye for detail, underpinned by strong technical expertise and vast body of experience.
In addition, to his work in the industry, Ricardo has taught graduate students at Parsons School of Interior Design and Lighting as well as The Institute of Technology and School of Architecture in Santiago Cuba.
